Jurassic Park Slot Machine

Slot machines reinforce the ‘game of chance’ nature found within casinos across the globe. Naturally, many slot machines exist to take advantage of that. While most people are accustomed with standard ‘casino-y’ slot machines, slot machines have become more than just kitschy casino fare. Apart from the standard casino-y slot machine, plenty based on existing pop culture figures and franchises reside there.

Movies are a common source of inspiration for slot machines nowadays. Though, the slot machine we’re about to review inspired various aspects of film and popular culture today.

Jurassic Park is, undoubtedly, one of the most recognized and adored films of all time. It served as the catalyst for various technologies used for film special effects and 3D animation used today, in addition to now standard sound technologies. It’s also probably the most recognized science fiction-horror films out there. No wonder it’s getting a sequel again, too.

About Jurassic Park

The 1993 science fiction-horror film was actually based off a novel of the same name, Jurassic Park, by Michael Crichton. The film rights were sold well before Crichton’s then-new book was published, eventually leading to Stephen Spielberg and Universal Studios acquiring the film right for $1.5 million.

The plot of the film is centered around a fictional island by the name of Isla Nublar, located off the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica. There, a billion philanthropists and a small assembled team of genetic scientists created a wildlife park—filled with cloned dinosaurs.

The memorable plot and dinosaurs weren’t the only elements defining the film. The amount of work put into creating the dinosaurs, the soundscapes (sound design) and the presentation of the film itself birthed a movement that successfully integrated digital technologies in film making—all during the early 1990s. In fact, the effects of Jurassic Park’s production are still felt in the film industry today.

Of course, Jurassic Park’s impact spread to popular culture, too. The film ended up winning more than 20 awards, notably for special effects, and now has grossed over $1 billion in sales (since the 2013 3D re-release). Jurassic Park eventually received two sequels (The Lost World: Jurassic Park and Jurassic Park III), with a third eponymous sequel on track for release sometime during 2015.

The Slot Machine

The Jurassic Park slot machine reveals International Gaming Technology’s efforts in fostering an experience close to the original movie. Even upon the debut of the game, slot machine enthusiasts praised the game for its commitment to presenting the Jurassic Park experience in the form of a slot machine.

Characteristics, Symbols and Features

International Gaming Technology went the extra mile to design this slot machine. They even introduced a new Center Stage screen, which allows the game to take advantage of its community-centric bonus features. Of course, the Jurassic Park slot machine features many of the sights and sounds from the movie itself, integrating sounds, visuals and movie clips into the overall experience.

This slot machine is a five reel slot with 30 pay lines. You’ll also have the ability to put up a ‘bonus wager,’ a side bet of up to 20 credits.

The symbols themselves re naturally themed after the movie, featuring the iconic dinosaurs, tools and the movie’s logo alongside traditional slot machine symbols. This slot machine is also known for having several game modes. The game modes come in the form of bonus rounds.

The Group Play round lets you experience the game with a group, displaying all of the action on the Center Stage screen. Of course, everyone participating in the game will have to do their best to escape the amusement park before the dinosaurs get to them!

Bonuses

Besides the aforementioned Group Play round, there are three other bonus round in the Jurassic Park slot machine—Panic in the Park, Escape from Jurassic Park and Raptor Rampage.

Panic in the Park makes the player attempt to keep electric fences fully charged, which has the effect of boosting your final winning payout. The Escape from Jurassic Park bonus round lets you find an escape route from the park. As long as you’re able to select a clear route, you’ll end up winning the selected cash amounts with multipliers—if you find them.

The last bonus round, Raptor Rampage, is triggered after accumulating free spins for the Jurassic Park slot machine. When you get the round, you immediately get 8 free spins, and then play them on a set of three reels. There, a T-rex will attack the Raptor symbols, and the result of that attach will determine how big your payout gets.
